Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

Everything I’d known about the world was a lie. On my thirteenth birthday, I, Alcatraz Smedry (yes, I got named after a prison, don’t ask), received my inheritance: a bag of sand. And then I accidentally destroyed my foster parents’ kitchen. It’s not my fault, things just break around me, I swear! I thought the sand was a joke until evil Librarians came to steal it. You define life or it defines you. In Shawn Speakman’s case, it was both. Lacking health insurance and diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2011, Shawn quickly accrued a massive medical debt that he did not have the ability to pay. That’s when New York Times best-selling author Terry Brooks offered to donate a short story that Shawn could sell to help alleviate those bills—and suggested he ask the same of his other writer friends. Unfettered is the result: An anthology built in order to relieve that debt, featuring short stories by some of the best fantasy writers in the genre.

Publisher's summary
Long months have passed since Siris and the God King, enemies betrayed together, were left to rot in the prison at the Vault of Tears. Their true enemy - the Worker of Secrets, creator of the Infinity Blade itself - now reigns.
Upon finally obtaining freedom, Siris must unravel plots that seem to make no sense, lead a rebellion with no direction, and fight against the division within his very heart. The secrets unraveled will dig backward in time toward the origins of the deathless and the true nature of the world itself....
From number one best-selling author Brandon Sanderson and ChAIR entertainment, creators of the blockbuster Infinity Blade video game series, comes the second novel in the epic Infinity Blade saga.
This latest tale delves deeper into the fantastical world of Infinity Blade, a world of mystery and intrigue where magic and technology are indistinguishable and even life and death are not as they seem.

Confused in the start
Apparently you need to have played the video game to understand the beginning. Don’t give up if you’re confused. It takes time but by the end you’ll understand what it all means. Not as good as the first but still Sanderson.

Not as good as other Brandon Sanderson books
I have read nearly every Brandon Sanderson book available except the wheel of time. This is not a favorite book of mine. It’s very dark, a little disjointed, and a little hard to follow. It may be because of the source material he was trying to fit the story into. It finally comes together by the end of the book and I may actually read the second one now. But the first 2/3 of the book, I pondered returning it to audible and getting my money back.

Another well written story
While this was another well written story, the story itself was not as captivating as some of his other ones.

Easy read, very enjoyable!
Narration was pleasant to hear. For a novel based on a game it had a great story. Was hoping for a final ending and not something that seems to lead to a (non existent) next book

Interesting concept and well done.
Interesting concept and well done but I had some trouble getting into this one and understanding what was happening. Some of the later revelations and twists helped and made this one four stars for me, but I struggled early on. I'm going to try the next book.

Amazing performance.
An engaging fantasy tale, full of enlightening reveals, backstory, and twists. Samuel Roukin’s performance, though, really brings it home. He gives the characters such life and such vivid personality that I can’t wait to hear more of his narration.

Waiting for Book Three
Another great book by Brandon Sanderson. I really like the narrator. Based on the ending, there will definitely be a book 3. Not sure when but waiting.
